Greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions

Lexmark is committed to reducing green house gas emissions year to year, and carbon neutrality by 2035. As we continue to drive our emissions to minimal levels, we will also utilize renewable energy, carbon credits and renewable energy certrificates (RECs) to offset the remainder of emissions in some areas of our business. RoHS/REACH

Microplastics

Lexmark consumables contain synthetic polymer microparticles (microplastics) as defined under REACH Regulation (EU) 2023/2055.

• Care should be taken when handling emptied containers. To minimize potential release of microplastics to the environment, do not attempt to open or rinse sealed cartridges.
• Dispose of contents/container in the appropriate recycling stream. Instructions can be found at lexmark.com/recycle.

Endocrine disruptors

Consumer information on hazardous substances 

Lexmark complies with laws and regulations for the reporting and/or restriction of hazardous substances. The controlling document for Lexmark products is the Lexmark Product Environmental Specification (1040000). For further inquiries, please contact sustainability@lexmark.com  
 

Precious Metals and Rare Earth Minerals  

Lexmark evaluates the careful use of resources by means of material inventory within the supply chain and specifically for precious metals and rare earth used. Silver and Neodymium are used at small levels for specific performance and durability applications which are declared per the French Circular economy bill ( LOI n° 2020-105 Article 13.1 - Title 2).  For more information on the declaration of precious metals and rare earth, see Rare Earth Declaration. 

Conflict Minerals

Lexmark is committed to responsible global sourcing of the minerals in our products. As a member of the Responsible Business Alliance (RBA), we perform due diligence to reasonably assure that conflict minerals (tantalum, tin, tungsten, and gold) and extended minerals (cobalt and mica) in the products we manufacture do not directly or indirectly finance or benefit armed groups that are perpetrators of serious human rights abuses in the Democratic Republic of the Congo or an adjoining country. Packaging  

Lexmark has a target to reduce single-use-plastics in packaging by 50% by 2025. For more information on Lexmark product packaging, click Sustainability Report: Packaging.
 

Post-consumer recycle (PCR) plastic

Lexmark is an industry leader in the use of reclaimed plastic with 37% of the plastic content, by weight, in Lexmark branded toner cartridges coming from post-consumer plastic from our Lexmark Cartridge Collection Program. Our goal is to increase the use of reclaimed plastic through the PCR and product reuse processes to 50% by 2025.

Lexmark branded, in-house laser printer and multifunction product hardware models sold in 2020 contain an average of 39% PCR plastic by weight of plastic, with 100% of these models containing some PCR plastic content. Our goal is to increase the average post-consumer recycled content plastic in models to 50% by 2025. See Sustainability Report: Materials for additional information on Lexmark's use of PCR plastic. Software updates

Device software is available online for Lexmark's customers to freely access and download. Lexmark's product software and firmware are designed to optimize device management and promote long-life usage with a minimum of seven years device firmware support after production ceases. For more product model firmware updates, see Lexmark Support and enter your product model to search for software.

Reuse and recycling

India enacted Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) in 2016 as part of the E-Waste Management Rules. EPR requires producers of electrical and electronic equipment (EEE) to provide for the collection and recycling of the in-scope end-of-life equipment.
To facilitate collection and recycling, Lexmark has partnered with TES-AMM in India to act as our Producer Responsibility Organization (PRO). India-based customers can drop off their end-of-life printers and supplies at one of the collection centres listed below. Lexmark will cover the recycling costs.
